5 Basics To Serve In The Navy Reserve
To enlist in the US Navy Reserve, here are the 5 basic and general requirements you’ll need to meet.
Age Limitations
To be eligible for enlistment, as a non-prior military service member, you must be between 18 and 35 years of age. Alternatively, 55 years is the limit for members with 20 years of uninterrupted military service (extendable to 60 years in some cases).
Physical Health
Candidates must meet their ideal height to weight ratios specified by the Navy Reserve, and which can be viewed on the Navy Reserve’s official website. Candidates must also have good hearing and vision, be free of all communicable diseases and have no drug-related habits.
Financial Stability
A track record that reveals sound financial standing is another essential for enlistment in the Navy Reserve. A bad credit record or poor financial health can affect or even lead to rejection of your application for enlistment.
Legal Status
Legal encumbrances, incarcerations, or on-going legal proceedings of any kind, can also disqualify you from enlistment.
Aptitude Test Score
Another prerequisite for Navy Reserve enlistment is a high score in the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test. The ASVAB test is conducted at either a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) or at your nearest Navy Reserve Center.
