Military police maintain order wherever they are stationed. The police officer’s job is to protect other military personnel In need of security in dangerous situations and prevent riots and chaos created by citizens in war zones. Military Police Requirements
Navy and National Guard enlists may aspire to become military police, but it is the training supervisors who will decide which enlists best suit the police qualifications and requirements. During the first weeks of training, supervisors will monitor trainees to decide where individuals may best serve their military branch; some will be suggested for police careers, while other will be recommended for other careers. After completion of basic training, an additional 12 weeks of physical and educational training is required for military policemen.

Putting Military Experience to Use Later
A military career as a Navy, National Guard, Marine Corps or Army police officer helps veterans to gain later careers in civilian law enforcement. Skills learned during service provide veteran applicants with necessary and exceptional experience in the police field. Useful skills learned and applied during active duty include such as providing surveillance; patrolling roads, shores and borders; guarding military base entrances and performing patrols on foot and via police vehicles.
