Listen to the Future as a Navy Sonar Technician
The United States Navy has many different kinds of vessels and many different kinds of positions. On board a submarine, there are few jobs which are more important than that of the sonar technician. This is someone who will help to do more than discover enemy vessels in the area. In this position, you will also help to avoid collision and discover items in the sea which your vessel is charged with finding.
High Tech Ears
While there have been many different things which have been invented to help the sonar technician over the years, there is little which can replace the abilities of a well-trained sonar technician. The computers which are trained to listen for different sounds can sometimes get the sounds wrong. It is a good idea to have a set of human ears on board which can confirm sounds and find sounds the machines might have missed.
