Navy Enlistment Is Easy. If You Know How
Around the shores of the United States, and in every ocean and sea on planet earth, the formidable, flotillas of the US Navy are on the prowl, ever alert to counter any threat to the nation and its allies, 24/7/365. Of course, the powerful driving force that the US Navy owes much of its success to, are the fearless men and women who it employs.
If these are reasons enough to consider a navy career, here’s what you should know before you take the plunge.
Get informed
Detailed information is vital before enlistment. While a navy vet is a reliable resource to gain valuable inputs, making contact with an authorized US Navy recruiter will be even better. The latter will have updated information on current enlistment rules in the navy, and will provide you with a checklist of everything you’ll need to know.
Get started
As with other military branches, the US Navy has its own set of basic requirements to meet, when applying for a job – citizenship (US only); age (17 to 34 years); sound health; ideal height-weight (US Navy-specified); education (minimum high school diploma); and high moral standards.
Get going
On meeting the minimum requirements, the next step is an ASVAB test, conducted at a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS). That’s it! Pass this test with a high score, and you qualify for enlistment. The career of your dreams sails from here.
