080619-N-2838W-025

There are two Navy SEAL Groups: Naval Special Warfare Group One, located on the West Coast, and Naval Special Warfare Group Two, on the East Coast. Both groups can be deployed anywhere in the world as Naval Special Warfare Squadrons or Special Operations Task Forces (SOTF).

Each SEAL team consists of a HQ element and three 40-man troops. Each Navy SEAL team is led by a Navy Commander (O-5). Within each team, there is a HQ element that consists of a Troop Commander (O-4), a Targeting/Operations Officer (O-2/3), a Troop Senior Enlisted (E-8), and a Targeting/Operations Leading/Chief Petty Officer (E-6/7). The HQ element consists of two platoons of 2 officers, 14 enlisted men and occasionally 2 enlisted EOD Operators. Each Navy SEAL team, including support staff and troops, consists of approximately 300 personnel.
